The Evolution of the Step Cut Trapezoid Diamond
The Trapezoid, also known as the Trapeze Cut is a relatively new shape in the world of long established and dominant classic diamond cuts. It has evolved from the equally respected Baguette and Taper Cuts, and is growing in appeal by the minute, primarily for use as side stones.
Why the Trapezoid?
The Trapezoid, thanks to its elongated bottom side, yet short top provides a stunning alternative. These extended lines and high surface area make the Trapezoid Cut the perfect side stone, commonly used as an enhancement to Radiant and Princess Cut Center Stones.
The Trapezoid Step Cut Diamond Demands Perfection
Unlike most diamond cuts, the step cut trapezoid does not have what is known as an optimal width to length ratio, and when using the step cutting method resembling that of an Aztecan structure, even more so. The ability to adapt to each piece and create a stone that returns the ideal light and proportions is of the highest priority. But that’s not all. As a side stone, it takes time and sophistication to find the perfect center stone to match it.
